I am sad to report that I my paleo/primal trial has come to an early end. I followed the plan for 11 days.
Many of you are aware that I developed what I think was a sinus infection early on. I don’t know that it was related to my food intake, but I can’t rule it out. This past week I also started experiencing symptoms indicating my gallbladder was not performing at its peak. I’m talking pale poop, nausea and vomiting, pain in my upper back and pain/pressure under my ribcage. It was not a fun experience. The longer I continued, the worse I felt.
I have begun incorporating whole grains back into my diet, and have cut back on the amount of animal products I am eating. I am happy to say that I am already feeling better.
There is a saying that one person’s food is another person’s poison. I have many friends who thrive on a paleo diet. To be 100% honest I thought I would be one of those same people; however, we know that what works for one person may not work for another.
Overall, I feel this was a great experience in that I was able to see how my body reacts to a different style of eating. I learned that you should never be afraid to change things up a bit. You never know how your body will react to a new way of eating. I thought I would be able to go a full 30 days, but my body had other plans. Do I feel like I failed the experiment? No. I think it was a success, and I now know that my body prefers to be fueled by plants with a little meat thrown in for some variety.
Have you ever considered changing your diet up a bit? Perhaps you only need to make a few changes to experience a dramatic improvement in your health.
